Our Praying Mantis

Tyrell's Dad found this praying mantis on a kumara at his work. Tyrell wanted to bring the praying mantis to school to show the children. Tom's Mum found out that it is a South African praying mantis. We are keeping it in an aquarium at school. Already it has eaten a spider and a fly.

The children wrote about the praying mantis.

I saw the praying mantis eating the spider. The praying mantis is green. Bounce, bounce, bounce, said the praying mantis. The praying mantis was camouflaged and it's tongue is red.

The praying mantis is eating a spider. It has googly eyes. It is green. It is camouflaged. It has bendy legs. It is big. It has yellow eyes. I like the praying mantis.
